The Island squad used the wind behind their back in the first half to open up a 2-0 half time lead. Ryan Casey's shot from long distance sailed over the head of the Dieppe keeper to open the scoring at the 36th minute. At the stroke of half time, Jared Murphy got the second with some nice build up play on the right flank. Dillon Wight controlled the ball on the flank and beat his defender to the inside before laying off a pass that Murphy hit first time from 25 yards and found the top right corner.
The Island squad looked to be in control but Dieppe came out strong in the second and were rewarded for their efforts with goals from Bourama Simpara and Clifford Lindor in the 53rd and 62nd minutes to tie the match at two a piece.
Both squads had opportunities to take the lead but it was Murphy's second marker of the game in the 86th minute that sealed the victory for the home team. Murphy was able to get past the last defender and side footed home the winner.
The victory moves the Island team into a tie with the Fredericton Reds.
The teams travels to Edmonston for their next match beforte returning home on June 24th to host Fundy United at 6 pm at the UPEI Turf.
