Regional & Atlantic Training Centre Program
Regional Training Center –PEI
The RTC is made up of the top players in PEI whom the CSA feels have the potential to be future or current national team or Team Atlantic members. These players will have the opportunity to train three days a week, from late November to June, with Jonathan Vos, PEISA Technical Director and Holland College men’s soccer coach. The players invited were either scouted in Regional competitions, like the Atlantic All Stars or National competitions such as the All Stars or Club Championships. Players may also have been selected on the recommendation of the director of the RTC. Players can expect regular technical training, fitness testing, formal player evaluations and visits from CSA national team coaches and Danny Worthington, the National Training Centre - Atlantic head coach.
The RTC serves two purposes , firstly it is a feeder program for the CSA National Training Centre in Halifax. This means that the top performers in our RTC are invited to Halifax 3 times for CSA scouting weekends. At these scouting weekends they are joined by atlantic canada’s top players to play games versus senior men’s and women’s teams These games are watched by national team coaches who write a written report to the CSA recommending players for national team events.
The second purpose of the RTC is to develop our younger players who may have the potential to be invited for NTC-A scouting weekends. Therefore we have a large number of young players involved in the center and a smaller number of older players.
In essence the RTC is the step in between playing for your province and making the national team.
