PEI Soccer is pleased to announce the formal adoption of the Underage Player Policy for PEIFC and Provincial Teams.
This policy has been developed to ensure that opportunities for underage players are managed in a way that prioritizes athlete safety, long-term development, and program integrity. By establishing clear guidelines, the policy provides consistency and transparency for families, coaches, and athletes across our high-performance pathway.
Key objectives of the policy include:
Supporting holistic player development: ensuring athletes progress at a pace that balances challenge with wellbeing.
Maintaining competitive integrity: aligning team selection with age-appropriate standards and national best practices.
Providing clear communication: offering families and athletes a transparent framework for requests and approvals.
Safeguarding athlete welfare: prioritizing health, safety, and readiness in all decisions.
The Underage Player Policy reflects PEI Soccer’s commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive, and high-performance soccer culture. It ensures that while exceptional talent is recognized, the broader needs of the athlete and the team remain at the forefront.
We thank our coaches, administrators, and families for their input and collaboration in shaping this important step forward. The policy will take effect immediately, December 1, 2025, and will guide all PEIFC and Provincial Team programming moving forward.
